Obituary Notice for Old Comrade James Henry (Ducky) Mallard 1943-2021

 James Henry (Ducky) Mallard 1943-2021

Jim was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years. He passed away suddenly, but peacefully at his home in Angus ON on Saturday, January 2nd in his 78th year. He is survived by his bride Janette (of 56 years). The loving father of Susan (Bruce Fraser) and Karen (Sylvain "Sly" Martel).  Cherished grandfather (whom he loved with all of his heart) Alicia Koopmans (Duane Henry), Adam Koopmans (Jessica Beveridge) and Matt de Silguy (Riley MacDonald). He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Betty Day, Barbara Goertzen and their families.

Jim was a very talented golfer and woodcraftsman, always delighting in making furniture for his families. "Grandpa could fix anything".  Jim will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives and friends.

At Jim's and the family's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim's life will be announced at a later date..

Obituary notice for club member Hector Francis MacKinnon, LM 373

 Hector Francis MacKinnon

Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of Laurette (Constant) MacKinnon and cherished father of Deborah Lee (Robert), Craig MacKinnon (Kathy) and the late Michael MacKinnon. Dear grandfather of Brandon (Kathleen), Andrew and Michael Jr. and great grandfather to Avery. Hector is survived by his siblings Michael, Patsy, Sandra, Terry, Maureen, Linda and Jake and by several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law Jennifer MacKinnon and her son Jordan. He was predeceased by his parents Georgina and Hector MacKinnon Sr. and by brothers Wayne and Kenneth. 

Hector joined the RC Sigs Apprentice Plan in 1957 in Halifax, NS. He travelled with Terry Murphy and several maritimers to Vimy on 17 Sep 57 to begin training as Apprentice Soldiers. This was the 6th intake of  The Apprentice Soldier Program.  Hector graduated as a radio operator but later changed trades to Rad Tech. He was a very avid Ham Radio Operator. Upon retirement Hector moved to Brockville and worked at Automatic Electric and instructed electronics at a local college. 

A private family service will take place at the Irvine Funeral Home  and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville with interment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in May 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society Lanark Leeds Grenville or the Brockville and District Hospital Palliative Care will be gratefully acknowledged.
