   Robert (Bob) Winsor of Kingston, Ontario passed away
 peacefully at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre,
 surrounded by his family on April 15, 2019 at the age of 71
. Bob made many friends in Kingston and the surrounding
 area throughout his extensive career in Real Estate, after
 spending 20 years serving with The Canadian Armed Forces
. A lifelong music lover, Bob was best known for his innate
 sense of humor and genuine love for his family and friends.
 Loving husband of 50 years to Lorraine (nee Parsons),
 devoted father to Allyson and Jeff (Caitlin). Cherished
 grandfather to Jake, Robbie, Megan and Chase. Predeceased
 by his parents Bernard and Genevieve and brother Vic. 
Bob will be greatly missed by his siblings Linda (Ken),
 Bill (Tina) and Marlene (Bruce). Adored brother-in-law
 of Sharon (John) and Lynn. He will be fondly remembered
 by many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would
 like to extend a special thank you to the ICU staff for their
 loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may
 be made to The Salvation Army, Kingston Health Science
 Center Intensive Care Unit or the Heart and Stroke 
Foundation. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration
 of Life will be held at the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess,
 18 Craftsman Blvd., CFB Kingston, April 27, 2019 at 5:00 PM.13

Obituary notice for club member Derek Shaver LM054

With heavy hearts, at the age of 93, we announce the death of Derek Shaver (Kingston, Ontario), who passed away on April 14, 2019. Family and friends can send flowers and condolences in memory of the loved one. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Derek Shaver to pay them a last tribute.

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his children, Dorothy Shaver (Bart) of Parry Sound and Doug Shaver of Trenton; his granddaughters, Christine (David) of Melbourne and Cindy (Chole) of Aurora, Ontario; his great grandchildren, Sebastian, Scarlett and Elizabeth. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday, April 26th 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26th 2019 at 11:00 AM at the St. George's Anglican Church (9 Byron St, Trenton, ON).

Obituary announcement for old comrade Lt.Col(Retd) Donald(Don) Dingle

Lt.-Colonel (Retired) Donald (Don) Dennis Dingle died suddenly at home on March 25, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 91. Don is survived by his wife, Doreen Elizabeth Dingle (nee Smith); Children: Ken, Nancy Akehurst (Steve). Liz Grimes, Peter (Susan) from Nova Scotia; Grandchildren: Robyn (Derek Pierce), Matthew (Candice Moore), Melanie, Riley; and Great-Grandchildren: Brooke and Jackson all from Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vivian Dingle, siblings: Art, Russell, William, Iris and Bob. Don was born on July 3, 1927 in Calgary, Alberta. He was always interested in a military life. At age 11 he joined the Alberta Military Institute Cadet Corps. During World War II he rose to command this unit, leaving to join the Reserve Signals where he qualified as a Sergeant. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Alberta attaining a BSc in Electrical Engineering, attending summer training with the COTC at the school of Signals in Kingston. He was commissioned as Lieutenant in 1949 and joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He was a decorated Military Veteran, having spent two years in Korea. He married Doreen Elizabeth Smith in 1952 after meeting on a blind date. The couple welcomed four children into their home. Because of Donald's military career, the family spent many years travelling extensively including stints in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Kingston, Ontario; Richmond, England; Rheindahlen, Germany; Ottawa, Ontario and Shilo, Manitoba and eventually landing in Ottawa where they purchased a home. He also spent time with two postings to Alert, NWT and time in Ghana, Africa developing an early alert warning system. They have lived in Ottawa since 1972. His children remember him as a very supportive and caring father. He was very proud of the achievement of his kids and enjoyed his time spent with his great grandchildren. Don was an active and dedicated member of Trinity United Church and often volunteered at their bazaars and events. Friends may pay respects at Kelly Funeral Home, Carling Chapel,

After a week-long battle fought with courage and dignity, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in his 102nd year. Beloved husband and best friend, for seventy-five years, of Miriam Seidel. Loving, devoted and adored father of Michael Hart, and Leslie Hart. Father-in-law of Merrianne Hart. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Eddie and the late Phyllis Hart. Brother- in-law of Alan Seidel of Toronto, Ruth Costin of Calgary, the late Judy Spier. David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives he touched. Obituary announcement for club member Dennis Benke LM282

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Benke after a short illness, at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, on March 16, 2019.
Dennis was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Joan (nee Elliot), and predeceased by special friend Beryl Wolfe.  Dennis is survived by his son Tom (Margaret).  He will be sadly missed by his cherished granddaughters Kristin, Alyssa (Francois Piche) and Katrina as well as by his sister-in-law Margaret (Dr. Richard Wall).  He was predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Martha (Renas) Benke, by his step-father Fredrick Timm, by his half-sister Evelyn Newcombe (Bob) and step-brother Robert Timm (Muriel).  Dennis served his country for 42 years in both the Canadian Armed Forces (33 years) and in the Public Service of Canada (9 years) with great honour and distinction.  Dennis was a proud life-member of the Royal Canadian Signal Corps.  Upon his retirement from the military, Dennis accepted a similar position with the Public Service in the Communication and Electronics Engineering and Maintenance Division until his retirement from the Public Service in 1991.  During his retirement Dennis was an active member in both the Canadian and American Volkssport Federation/Associations.  He completed sanctioned walks in all 10 Provinces as well as in all 50 states, completing a remarkable 20,000 km with both organizations.  Dennis enjoyed many years as a curler at Ottawa’s RA curling club.  He was also a member of the MG Club of Ottawa and took pride in his restoration of an MGB GT for which he won many awards for quality restoration.  He was very proud of his contribution during the 1976 Montreal Olympics where he was part of the on-water support and rescue for the sailing events held in Kingston.  Friends and family are invited to visit the Beechwood National Memorial Centre Hall of Colours, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 12 noon until time of a Memorial Service in the Sacred Space at 2 PM.  Interment to follow in the National Military Cemetery at 3 PM.  Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice, in Dennis’ name.

Dennis was a lineman (CWO) and retired as a Capt.  He was a member of the Sigs Club.  Many will remember him as an instructor with soldier apprentices, line instructor, career manager and a great friend. I first met him in 1957 as a 16 yr old soldier apprentice, he kept a close eye on me for the next 32 years and kicked my a..  when I stepped over the traces. RIP my friend.
