John passed away peacefully at home in Calgary, Alberta. Predeceased by his beloved wife Grace Alice Edwards Bell in April 2017. John will be interred next to Grace in the Union Cemetery in Pakenham, Ontario. They were married on December 2, 1949 in Edmonton, Alberta. Their five children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter are deeply grateful to know that John and Grace are happily together again. John served with honour in the Canadian Army for 48 years with his specialty being in the field of communications and electronic engineering. John saw active duty in Europe and northern Africa during World War II and was the recipient of several medals of honour. In his private life, he deeply loved his family, curling, cars, golf, and French fries. He was a man of deep Christian faith and commitment to his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. No matter whose life crossed John's path, they were better for having been recipients of his caring influence. Following their retirement, John and Grace served as missionaries for the church in Nigeria, South Africa, and in Vancouver, British Columbia - once again willingly putting their own needs and wants aside so that others could be lifted up as a result of their loving generosity and kindness. John's care and arrangements been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John St. North, Arnprior. Extended family and friends are invited to join us on their electronic devices for a Live Webcast Funeral Service on Saturday, June 26 at 1 o'clock. A true gentleman till the end, he passed peacefully in his 86th year. He leaves his wife Susanne and his sons Sven (Eva) and Michael. Brother to Winnie, Rodney, Barbara, Lynford, June, Marguerite (predeceased), Austin (predeceased) and Winston (predeceased), and brother-in-law to Inge (predeceased), Gerd (predeceased) and Klaus. Son of the late Hugh and Maude, he was born in Cherry River in the Eastern Townships. He loved all his family and country very much. He proudly served his country for more than 33 years in most parts of Canada, with Canada's NATO forces in Europe and on peacekeeping missions in Egypt and Cyprus. In 1967 he was one of the 37 members of the motorcycle display team for Tattoo 1967, the Canadian Military's contribution to Canada's 100th birthday that toured the country from coast to coast performing 125 shows. Prior to retiring from the military, he was invested into the Order of Military Merit for exemplary service to Canada. Following his military career, he pursued his passion of hunting and fishing, creating two successful companies, Fish Hawk Charters and The Rod Doc. Happiest when on the water or in the forest, he will be remembered for his integrity, patience, compassion, humour and his unwavering positive attitude. He always said he would live forever, and he will in the hearts he touched. Thank you to Dr. Kennedy and the staff at Arbour Heights. A private family memorial will be held later this year.  The death of John Robert Arthur Palmer of Saint John NB. husband of the late Barbara (Mills) occurred on May 5, 2019.

John is survived by his two daughters, Roxanne Gervais and Starr Cook (husband Robin) grandson, Nathan (wife Nicki), granddaughter, Leah (husband JC Ouellet) and great-granddaughter, Savannah, fiancee, Sandra Magee, sister, Connie (husband Leonard Voutour), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life John spent 23 years with the Canadian Armed Forces serving with the Communications Branch, also many years in the Reserves and Cadet League.

Shortly after retirement he found employment with the Irving Group, Kent Line and Atlantic Towing.

Internment took place in St Joseph's Cemetery, Saint John NB.

Basil Conrad Brosso, at 100 years of age has completed his earthly duties, to be reunited with his God, returning to His Eternal Kingdom, in joyful reunion with his beloved wife, Monica. Basil, a long time resident of Kingston Mills, entered into rest at Fox Run Retirement Residence, Gananoque on Sunday July 18, 2021. Devoted father to Brian (Karen) of Perth and Gerard (Cheryl) of Gananoque. Deeply cherished by grandchildren Michelle, Andrew, Christopher and Emma along with Ryan (Stephanie), Adam and Kevin. Predeceased by his wife Monica (nee Scott) his brother Leon and parents, Leon and Emma Brosso (nee Maharg of Larne, Northern Ireland). Basil attended Queen's University, served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during World War II, training for them with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He was part of the Canadian forces that liberated the Netherlands. Post-war, he was employed by the Dept. of National Defense at CFB Kingston as an architectural draughtsman and surveyor and was an honourary member of the 1st Battalion, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders. He was president of the Canadian Homebuilders Cooperative at Kingston Mills, a development spearheaded by the late Father Joseph P. Anslie St. John's Parish Kingston and the late Msgr. T.J. Raby, formally of Holy Name Parish, Kingston Mills. Basil designed and assisted in the construction of Holy Name Convent, a facility that housed the Sisters of St. Martha of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island who taught at Holy Name School for many years. He was also chairman of the local catholic school board prior to amalgamation under the jurisdiction of the former Kingston and District Roman Catholic Separate Board of Education. A Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11886, he contributed to a wide variety of church activities and projects over the course of his 66 years as a parishioner. He was also a supporter of the Kingston St. Vincent de Paul meal preparation program, providing for the less fortunate.

Our family wishes to express sincere thanks and deep appreciation to Heather Howard and the staff at Fox Run Retirement Residence for Dad's comfort along with the many doctors and nurses who provided medical care over his lifetime. The family will receive friends at the Central Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 49 Colborne Street (at Clergy) on Sunday between the hours of 2-5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 950 Old Kingston Mills Road on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. Rev. Father Wes Chochrek Celebrant. Rite of Committal with prayers to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to Campaign Life Coalition.

Loving father of Marla Knapik (David), Michael (Raylene), Katherine and Elizabeth. Proud Grandpa of Carmelina (Travis), Michael, Joseph, Christopher and Emma and great-grandson Sean. Dear brother of the late Joanne Caldwell (Gary), Jim (Ginny) and Sheila Parker (Mike). He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and the MacDonald family.  The death occurred peacefully at the Garden Home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 of Bryan J. Langille, Charlottetown, age 87 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Miriam (Burke), children Brenda, Percy, Robert and Linda (deceased), step-children Heather, Reid, Charles and Vicki, 8 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great step-grandson.
