Obituary announcement for old comrade Robert (Bob) Mitchell

MITCHELL, Robert (Bob) August 18, 1953 - December 12, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Mitchell on December 12th after a brief yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob is survived by his daughter Tanya, son Allan and their mother Sonja, along with his 4 brothers: Ron (Teresa), Bill (Teresa), Gord (Odette) and Ken (Linda). Bob served 7 years in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He did 2 United Nations peacekeeping tours and was awarded numerous medals. After the military, he worked at Canada Post for 32 years before retiring in 2008. Bob was an avid musician and was heavily influenced by the Beatles. He loved to sing and play his guitar and was a member of the bands Flashback and Fugitive. When he wasn't playing darts with his best friend Bruce, he enjoyed a multitude of sports and was particularly into his football pool. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Victoria Hospice. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Gorge Vale Golf Course on January 5th from 2-4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Canada.

MOUNTENAY, William Joseph - Chief Warrant Officer (Retired) March 25, 1937 - December 17, 2016 A proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force for 35 years, Bill served in Clinton (ON), Vancouver (BC), Fontainebleau (France), Whitehorse (YT), Ottawa (ON), Yellowknife (NWT), Brunsuum (Netherlands), and CFB Kingston, retiring in 1992 as Deputy Commanding Officer of the Kingston Crypto Maintenance Unit (CFCMU). He will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Grace (née Warmington), sons Michael (Tiffany) and Christopher (Jocelyn Rainville), and adored granddaughter Rory and grandson Rigel. Predeceased by his parents Melvin and Edith Mountenay and brother Robert. He is survived by his brother Stan (Doris), his sisters Gwen Fisher and Lorraine Richards (Roy) and their families. Very special thanks are extended to Diane Batchelor, Queens' Family Health Team who said Bill was her "miracle man", to the pros at the Rehab Amputee Clinic (St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital) and to the wonderful residents and staff at Fairfield Manor East, whose love and care truly made it feel like home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Bill's family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 1 - 3 pm at the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess at CFB Kingston. Memorial donations in Bill's memory made to the charity of choice or to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.13128089

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Friday, December 16, 2016 Malcolm J. McNeil of Old Perlican, aged 76 years. Predeceased by his mother, Margaret Miller, father, Malcolm McNeil and brother, John (Jack) McNeil. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, partner, Judy Squires; sons, Jim (Ann Marie) and Rick (Lori); daughter, Christine; grandchildren: Chelsea, Ryan, Brady and Amber; sisters, Jane Hall (Craig) and Betty Laporte (JP); extended family: Paul, Lorie, Joshua, Karlie, Wendy, Mike, Brandon and Erin; as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Passed away peacefully on his 82nd birthday, December 15, 2016, surrounded by his family, at the Kingston General Hospital. Beloved husband of 62 years to Donna. Loving father of Doug (Debbie), Dan, late David, daughter-in-law Bonnie. Cherished grandfather of Tyler (Melanie), Taylor (Stephanie), Colten (Paige), Ashley and Dylan. Survived by siblings Marg Burgess (Chuck), and Vicky Davis (Murray), both of Port Hope. Always remembered by nieces, nephews other family and friends. Bill served his community of South Frontenac for many years as a long time counselor. Family and friends will be received at the TROUSDALE FUNERAL in Sydenham, on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 between the hours of 10:00 - 12pm. Funeral Service in the chapel 12pm followed by fellowship and refreshments, interment of the urn at the Harrowsmith Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers donations to the Korea Veterans Wall of Remembrance Bursary Fund, would be greatly acknowledged by the family (cheques only please).
