Obituary announcement for Charmaine Tappin wife of club member Percy Tappin


Charmaine Theresa Tappin

TAPPIN, Charmaine Theresa - Passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital in her 74th year, on Friday, May 19th, 2017. Predeceased by her parents Garnet and Germaine Andrews, and her Sister Cheryl Froats. Survived by her loving and devoted husband Percy of 52 years, sons Deryk (Ai Ming) and Timothy (Debbie), grandsons Nathan and Nolan, and her sister Charline. Charmaine was a graduate of Peterborough Teachers College and taught primary grades in the Catholic School system at Kingston and Ottawa. In retirement she volunteered her time to numerous agencies and charities. She was a champion of children and often focused her volunteer time at schools where extra help was needed with language skills. Visitation will be held at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME , 1900 John Counter Boulevard on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 from 7pm to 9pm and on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 from 10:00am to 10:50am in the Fireside Room at Providence Manor Nursing Home, 275 Sydenham Street Kingston. Funeral Mass will be at OUR MOTHER OF SORROWS CHAPEL (Providence Manor) on Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the McKinley Room. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to the nursing staff on Kidd 6 and Kidd 7 at KGH and to Charmaine's extended family, (staff and residents), at Providence Manor for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations in Charmaine's memory to the Huntington's Society of Canada, the Cancer Society or Providence Manor.13176591

Oituary notice for Charmaine Tappin wife of club member Percy Tappin

Charmaine passed away yesterday evening (May 19th).   The obituary should be in the Whig Standard on Tuesday morning. Her funeral is being planned for Thursday morning with a Visitation at Reid’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening.

WWII VETERAN - DAVE HART IS TURNING 100

A Reminder from the Colonel Commandant -BGen (retd) Bill Richard   : Register for the Retired Officers and Snr NCM  Mess Dinner (ROSEN), Friday 2 June and join  our special guest Dave Hart in celebration of his 100thBirthday.  Sgt Dave Hart was a radio operator at the Dieppe in August 1942 and was awarded the Militray Medal for bravery by King George VI. The program  for the dinner will also provide a  thank you to the many donors  to the C&E  Battlefield Study Tour  and brief ‘testimonials’ from some of the 50 young Branch members   who participated in this most successful event.

Obituary announcement for old comrade Randy Stott

STOTT, Randall William We are heart broken to announce the sudden passing of Randy Stott on 21 April 2017 in Victoria, BC. Randy is predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie Louise Stott (nee Johnston), and survived by their two children Becky Stott (Jay Paton) and Scott Stott (Melissa), his father and mother Jim and Kay Stott, his two brothers Tim (Cheryl) and Terry (Carleen) and families, and his brothers-in-law Keith and Kevin Johnston and families. He will be especially missed by the grandchildren he adored, Jameson, Abigail and Lydia. Randy was a dedicated member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 37 years. He retired as a Master Warrant Officer with numerous decorations, including the Special Service Medal and Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal with special skills in Czechoslovakian and Serbo-Croatian languages. He completed numerous tours overseas and up north, sacrificing much to protect his country and family. Randy loved sports and enjoyed coaching his son's teams, as well as cheering on his favourites; the Roughriders, Leafs and Blue Jays. His name will be forever engraved on the new Roughriders stadium, so look for him there! Those close to him also knew of his love for fishing and boating, and he and Louise often enjoyed their second home on the water during nice Ontario weather. A small service will be held at Riverside Memorial Gardens in Regina, Saskatchewan on 16 May 2017 at 11 a.m. A reception will be held following the interment at Travelodge Hotel and Conference Centre, 4177 Albert St S. In lieu of cards or gifts, please consider supporting our veterans with a donation to your local Royal Canadian Legion, www.legion.ca. Well done soldier, dismissed.1

Obituary announcement for club member Ken Nicholson LM495


NICHOLSON, Kenneth Ernest - (February 11, 1925 - May 2, 2017) Passed away peacefully at home, May 2nd 2017 surrounded by family. Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Marie Madeline Nicholson, is survived by his wife Iris Rauliuk, his four sons and five step daughters, Ken, Jim, Norm, Rob, Judy, Jo-Ann, Pat, Margaret and Tamara, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served proudly in the Canadian Armed Forces. In the Navy during WW II and the Army for the rest of his career. He was stationed from Alert NWT to the Congo with many postings in between.
