Obituary announcement for old comrade CAPTAIN (RET'D) NORA ODETTE-MACKAY (TEL OP 212, COMM OP 213 & CELE 42)


Nora Margaret Odette-MacKay
Sept 5, 1951 - June 28, 2017

It is with tremendous sadness that the family announces the passing of Nora Odette-MacKay after a battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband Rick MacKay, Westmeath; sisters Leslie (late Walter) Berezowsky, Edmonton, AB; & JoAnne Odette (Steve Wagner), West Vancouver, BC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & many long time friends.  Nora was predeceased by her father Elmer Odette (1991), mother Ruth Odette (nee Cragg) (2001), and sisters Gwen (late Norman) Melnyk (1974), Jacqueline Odette (1982) & Yvonne (Jim) Fisher (2014).  
 
Nora was born in Peace River, AB and after high school she worked in Edmonton as an A&W carhop before being transferred to Oakville, ON to manage an outlet.  From there she enlisted in the CAF serving Canada in Communications as a Teletype Operator.  Nora was a Captain when she retired from the CAF with 35 years of service.  Nora looked forward to retirement with Rick at their Ottawa Valley home in Westmeath.  
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 2-5:00 p.m.  A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 2047 Westmeath Rd., Westmeath on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of choice would be appreciated.
